If you want to get anything done,

don't, I repeat, *don't* listen to Pandora Radio.  This morning on a snowy, blizzardy day (yes, it's true), I wanted some new music other than my normal ITunes.  Pandora is a great place to find it!  Just type in a band you like and it automatically gives you an entire radio station geared to musicians who have similar attributes.  I plugged in "John Butler Trio" as I think they are just the shizz.  So...now, I've spent the entire morning running back and forth to the computer going "Who is that?  I must check them out on ITunes.  Wait.  I also must check there website...wait I will also check YouTube."  Seriously I have done this this every couple of minutes for several hours the music has been so good.  And from artists whom I have never heard.

Definition of "Chuga/Bachuga/Abachuga" (pronouced with oo sound as in boo):  Started out as "Baby Sugar" in extreme baby talk.  Shortened to just Chuga for everyday conversation.  Benjamin still calls her Abachuga.  I'm sure she'll love it someday.

Funny Benjamin-isms

So....Benjamin (and Colin too) are really into play-pretending "Indiana Jones."  Although Benjamin calls him "Indian and the Jones" and neither have seen any of the movies.  It all accounts because Colin has the Nintendo DS Lego game and so they think it and he (being "the Jones") are pretty cool.  They like to dress up in khaki pants and cowboy boots (does he wear those?) and cowboy hats (we don't have a cool fedora) and then they sling a belt around their shoulders.  The one thing missing is a whip.  I am pretty certain I don't want to put an actual whip in the hands of a four and eight year old nor do I want to give them a rope.  So what does crafty mama think of?  Twine!  (I know it's not nearly as cool but they'll take anything).  So they've been carrying their twine whips around and slinging them through the air.  Sometimes the twine gets knotted around things like the belt and my table and (only once) Gillian.  So, we have to cut the twine whips....which makes them short and not nearly as fun.

Yesterday, Benjamin came to me and said "Mama, the ants did it."  And I said "What did they do?"  And he said "The ants moved your scissors and cut more twine.  They got the scissors out of your bucket."

Ohhhhh....those are some pretty amazing ants.

The first morning....and "the ants did it"

So, I've been doing a lot of blog surfing  lately....I enjoy reading and seeing pretty things and pictures.  That's about as philosophical as I'll get about it.  I came upon a wonderful idea and something that speaks to my heart....about touching the present and remembering those little details that are so often forgotten.  This wonderful idea is the brainchild of two pretty neat ladies.  There is a book about the mornings, and a book (coming this summer!) about the evenings.  They also have a blog. 

Isn't this a neat idea?  Wouldn't you love to have a record like this to show your children?  I know I would. And it inspired me...something that is kind of hard to do lately, I must say. (why is that?  humph.) 

So here is my "first morning."  I can't promise that there will be an "every morning" to this series, but I hope to capture something about our lives....our loves....our habits....the things that we see and don't see all in the same breath.  The small things that make us smile and that have blessed us. 

    

EDITED TO ADD:  I know I promised "the ants did it" but this morning project took all...well, morning!  I am hopefully going to be a bit better at it now that I have figured out my format.  I promise I'll let you in on the ants latuh. :)
