I have to admit, this Fashion Friday was super hard to pull off. Picking a red plaid coat seemed like a good idea *until* I tried to pair it with other cute red dresses/clothes. Red is a hard, hard color to match as there are about a billion different shades and if you're off, you're off by a lot. One of my most embarassing childhood memories was when I was attending a state-wide contest in high school journalism. The newspaper that interviewed me asked me what was my pet peeve and I answered in my oh-so-smart-and-wise-not-at-all-shallow-high-school-ways....."people who wear different reds together."
Yikes.
Okay, so I may have been super young and so cut me some slack please. Oh please do.
I am now embarrassed all over again.
But transparency is good, right?
Anyway, I ditched the effort to try and find a little girl dress that matched mom's pretty coat. (I'm a sucker for a pretty coat/jacket....just ask my friends how many I have.) I decided instead to go with the khaki color in the collar. This freed me to find a cute sweater that had red touches thus bringing it all together without the headache of trying to match. Then dad and brother came together easily.
This is a very classic and semi-dressy outfit without being too over-the-top. It kinda reminds me of a gingerbread cookie. Love it for this holiday season and for those Christmas card photos everyone is wanting. If you'd like to make an appointment for your session, call me and we'll chat! I only have a handful of openings left this season.
And I promise, I won't wear clashing reds.

Another cozy Friday Fashion edition here at the bloggity. I've posted a similar color palette before, but this one is decidedly more Fall/Winterish. I loved mom's capelet/jacket/sweater but fell in love with daughter's sweater. So sweet and the perfect amount of punch for photos. Dad and junior look cool in gray - one of my favorite, favorite, favorite colors. It's soft and comfortable, warm and cozy and goes with anything. Score. I thought about adding a fun greenish scarf to dad's getup but at the 11th hour when my eyes were bleery, I said it didn't need it.
But it might.
You know.
And of course, mom and dad would need shirts underneath their jackets. (these are not *those* type of photos people...keep your minds. out. of. the. gutter.) Basic layers and some chunky bracelets for mom. I didn't think it was necessary to include those as you have so totally got this.
Now.....picture walking down the brick street. Old oak trees. Cuddling and watching the leaves fall. Or....hanging out in the backyard or your home. Sitting on the porch. Playing in the leaves and enjoying the cooling weather.
That's what I'm talkin' about.

I'm feeling casual this week - maybe it's all the good intentions lately...can't wear heals at the pumpkin patch, can we? I mean, I guess you could. If you were Carrie Bradshaw.
This one is super quick and fun. Bright pinks and blues, mixed with some gray (or grey, depending on how you roll). I thought it was funny that I chose all Converse for this FF - huh, maybe I was inspired.
A lot of people stray from pattern in clothing for their photo shoots. Don't be afraid! Pattern is scrumptious if you know how to mix it. Look through magazines, go online. A ton of stores now have "shop this look" sections that are similar to these fashion friday posts, except interactive. I aspire to be as cool.
We could even throw on a fun jacket over mom's bright pink - besides, it might be chilly. Think fall leaves. Caramel apples. Flag football game with the fam. Tailgating. Fun.
