The middle one. The sweet one. The snuggly one. The quiet one.
How to describe the little one that is my Benjamin? We sang the Bob Marley song "Jammin" all through my pregnancy - singing "BenJAMMIN, BenJAMMIN....I wanna Jam it with you!" He would baby kick and we would smile. He was born as sweetly as he is now. Softly coming into the world and snuggling his deep snuggle and wiggling his toes in freedom.
Like a warm sun after a cold day, you want more of him and his delight. A sweet little smile, a climb onto your lap. The way he says "I want you" when he needs a hug or kiss. How I loathe for him to grow out of that one.
Loveable.
The past two nights I've woken the eldest for school and this little one has been found in that same bed. Snuggled up next to his hero - seeking strength and warmth and safety. I've also found in the past two weeks the youngest...my darling Gillian, snuggled up to her playmate and friend...that middle one who embodies warmth of his own.
He might not know it yet and might see himself as small compared, but he is one amazing kid.

Not enough time yesterday to spend any on the computer. My time bank was full of coins for sunshine and wind and dirt. Leaves and twigs and sticks chewed by the dog and scattered over the growing-green grass. Coins for playing with new rakes and chalk bought off the list. I spent some coins on flip-flops and shorts and an extra layer of sunscreen and on a particularly lovely red blister on my right thumb. Then I spent some grilling chicken (for too long - need to get used to grilling again) and zucchini (which B didn't particularly enjoy) and on sore muscles at the end of the day. Lying down in bed with a "whoosh" and dropping off to sleep to dream of musty earth and children's laughter and chalk castles and sea-monsters in swirls of pink and blue. .

I'm thinking of starting a blog that is called "Things that my kids do at the post office that gross me out." What do you think? Catchy? As I'm at the post office almost everyday mailing things from my shop or my other shop (both at Etsy) I have quite a few of these nifty little tales tucked away in my brain. Today's gem was when Benjamin dropped his newly opened heart-shaped Valentine's sucker on the floor and then (swifter than I could stop him) swooped down and quick-as-lightning, back in his mouth. Awesome.
Or the time Colin picked up no fewer than six of the beanie baby-esque teddy bears they used to sell and threw them in their trash. I <heart> going through post office trash.
So...today's photo has absolutely nothing to do with this post (or my future award winning blog) but it's soothing and quiet which soothes my grossed-out soul.
Okay. Here's the deal. I've tried to write this blog post three different times and have erased this blog post three different times. I started to write something about the chuga being a stinker (but then realize that I probably don't need to tell you all over again). I also started to write about my lack of motivation but then that came off as kind of whiny....(do NOT whine). I also started to just post a picture but then that made me feel bad because I wouldn't want you to think that I don't feel like talking. 'Cause I do. I'm just having one of those "all-I-did-today-was-laundry-and-clean-the-house-days" and so nothing too exciting happened to me. Except maybe that I saw that my orchid might be trying to grow....or the fact that Gillian asked if there were hippopotamus tracks in the snow (to her credit there were rabbit tracks - so it's just logical there would be hippo tracks too!) Benjamin made me a heart and is writing "Ben" on everything out of sheer laziness (the "jamin" part just take s tooo long.) And Colin is...nine ('nuf said).
